Praise in the Park 1WA Truelove & Son Ltd was delighted recently to sponsor the annual “Praise in the Park” concert for the Banstead Five Churches.

“Praise in the Park” is a concert featuring singing groups, entertainers, and most importantly, local schools, including Aberdour, the prep school attended by both our Managing Director, Simon Truelove and his brother David, our Finance Director.  As well as this connection, Banstead was also the village where Simon and David grew up, with four generations of the Truelove family having lived in the village since the 1930s, so this event was doubly significant for them.

The Banstead Five Churches (also known as the Banstead 5) are All Saints Church of England, Banstead United Reformed Church, St. Pauls Church of England (Nork), St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Banstead Methodist Church.  They came together to serve all who live in the Banstead and Epsom Downs area when they signed an ecumenical covenant in May 1991.

Praise in the Park 2Praise in the Park took place on Sunday 14th June 2015 from 11.30am until 1pm at the Lady Neville Recreation Ground in Banstead.  WA Truelove & Son Ltd was very pleased to be the main sponsor for the event, paying for the stage and the sound system.

The congregation was invited to bring a chair and a picnic, and join in with hymns which included How Great Thou Art, Colours of Day, Love Divine and Our God Reigns.  Redhill Gospel Choir accompanied and led the singing and provided entertainment before and after the service.

As well as bible readings, prayers and blessings, there was also a magician, a drama of The Good Samaritan and performances of the following:

•    You’ve Got A Friend – Warren Mead Junior School
•    Lift Your Banners High – All Saints, Benhilton C Of E Primary School
•    The Lord’s My Shepherd – Banstead Five Churches Choir
•    Growing In God’s Love – St Ann’s Catholic Primary School
•    Sing – Aberdour School
•    All Things Bright And Beautiful – Greenacre School
•    Let There Be Love – Combined Schools Choir

Truelove’s has a branch in Banstead which was opened in 1996 by the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Reigate & Banstead, Councillor Mary Waller.  The branch was opened not long after the death of Kay Truelove, mother of Simon and David Truelove, so the chapels of rest are dedicated to her memory.

The Banstead branch is just one of the sixteen branches that WA Truelove & Son Ltd has in the local area currently, with the others being Caterham, Cheam, Coulsdon, Dorking, Epsom, Leatherhead, Mitcham, Morden, Oxted, Reigate, Wallington, Worcester Park, and the three in Sutton (our Head Office, and the branches in Mulgrave Road and the High Street).  For more information about WA Truelove & Son Ltd, please visit https://www.watltd.co.uk/.
