Two staff members from WA Truelove & Son Ltd were proud to receive their Certificates in Funeral Arranging and Administration (Cert.FAA) at the recent half yearly meeting of the London Association of Funeral Directors.  The Autumn General Meeting took place on Thursday 12th November at the Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge.

Our Administration Manager, Jenny Tapping, and the manager of our new Worcester Park branch, Sarah Love, both received their certificates from the President of the Association, John Lodge, and former President Sarah Farrow.  Both Jenny and Sarah passed the qualification with credit and as a result are now qualified funeral arrangers.

Jenny (top photograph) was born in Dunedin, New Zealand, where she started her career as a seamstress, working in a bridal shop.  She came to the UK at the age of twenty, where she met her husband Alan, who she married in 1990.  Before working for WA Truelove & Son Ltd, Jenny worked for Merton Council for twenty-one years.  Initially she started on a six month contract booking children’s holiday activities before being offered a full time position booking swimming lessons and letting out allotments.  In 2000, she was promoted to the position of Cemetery Administrator, attending to the four Merton Cemeteries.  She took voluntary redundancy in 2010, wanting a career change, and joined WA Truelove & Son Ltd as a Funeral Arranger at our Cheam Branch.  Jenny was promoted to be Administration Manager at Head Office in July 2014.

For many years Sarah was a teaching assistant at a primary school in Raynes Park.  She decided to change career following the death of her father, wanting to help other people who had also suffered a loss, but waited until her children were more grown up and independent before doing so.  She joined WA Truelove & Son in April last year, initially serving as a Relief Manager, before being promoted to run her own branch in June of this year.

Representatives from WA Truelove & Son Ltd attended the half yearly meeting, where certificates were presented to Jenny, Sarah and 12 other students.  The well-attended meeting welcomed the NAFD President William Millar and attendees enjoyed a convivial dinner following the meeting.  The London Association of Funeral Directors (LAFD) is an area association of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), the pre-eminent trade association in the UK for the funeral profession representing over 80% of all funeral directors in the country, including WA Truelove & Son Ltd.  LAFD represents businesses in London and the Home Counties with about 500 branches, and membership is automatically granted to members of NAFD within London, Surrey and some adjoining areas.
