About our Coulsdon Branch

We took over our Coulsdon premises from David Ebbutt in the late 1950s and, within a few weeks, a lorry coming down Woodcote Grove Road failed to stop at the junction and crashed into the shop front, causing extensive damage. However, this was quickly repaired and our branch reopened. The premises were extended in 1964 by the addition of new chapels of rest and have had two major refurbishments since then, one of which involved knocking down a large part of the exterior walls to eradicate dry rot. The branch has full facilities, including air conditioning.

It is run by Niki Handover, who has not only gained her Diploma in Funeral Directing & Funeral Service Management, which is the highest qualification awarded by the National Association of Funeral Directors, but is also a qualified embalmer and embalming instructor. She is also a member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors & the British Institute of Embalmers. Niki joined the company in 1997, after having had a successful ten year career as an embalming tutor at a large chain of funeral directors. Niki also trained in the Territorial Army 94 Signal Squadron in Windsor and took part in the ceremony celebrating the centenary of the Territorial Army. She is highly skilled in all denominations and faiths with an in depth knowledge of Catholicism, Greek Orthodoxy, Hindu, Humanist, Muslim as well as Military and Police funerals. Her most recent advancement to her career is as a registered Carer with particular reference to the handling and safety of the elderly, frail and the vulnerable. She also has a deep compassion for animals.

Parking is available in the Lion Green Road car park, which is just over the road from our premises.

Coulsdon Branch is open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Saturdays. Outside of these hours, please ring our Head Office on 020 8642 8211.
